Amidst shock and utter disbelief from fellow housemates and viewers, popular housemate, Bassey has been evicted from the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality TV show. Bassey follows the likes of Miyonse, Soma, CocoIce, Gifty, Uriel, Kemen, and ThinTallTony, including the two fake housemates: Ese and Jon.
During last week’s nomination show, Efe, the Ultimate Head of House was instructed by Biggie to nominate four housemates that will be up for possible eviction, a decision that put up TBoss, Bally, Bassey, and Debie-Rise on the line for eviction. After the voters’ decision, Bassey automatically became the eighth housemate to be evicted from the BBNaija house.
Meanwhile, Debie-Rise just before Bassey’s eviction was declared saved by Ebuka Oba Uchendu, the host of the show. Thereafter, Ebuka set the adrenaline of the other three nominated housemates on the rise, taking a deep breath, while also pausing for a few seconds before ordering Bassey to exit the Big Brother house. The low moment was when Debie-Rise broke down, sobbing profusely, having lost a dear one to eviction.
While on stage with Ebuka, a strong-willed Bassey disclosed that he feels elated having come this far. Bassey said he believed he had given his best and he is convinced that he would fare well in the outside world. He said, “For me, it’s a win-win situation.” When asked about the next thing after Big Brother Naija, Bassey said “I might probably pursue my music career, but I look forward to working with the CEO of Marvin Records, Don Jazzy.” On his romantic exploit in the house, Bassey said, “Debie-Rise is the only one person I was comfortable with.” He said that the music enthusiast, Debie, wanted to be “more emotional” with him but he “didn’t want to lead her on and break her heart.” He further revealed that there is no future for himself and Debie-Rise as he had a girlfriend who is waiting for him.
Recall that Bassey and Debie-Rise were the housemates introduced by Biggie during the first mock eviction show. This created a lot of buzz in the house including on social media. However, the most underrated housemate, Debie-Rise became the first to be saved among the nominated housemates, an indication which affirmed her popularity among the viewers.
Interestingly, Bassey made the confession of the night when he dropped the hint that Efe was a threat during the PayPorte games. He said, “He is fast and calculative.” Meanwhile, Bassey played a critical role in the production of the theme song, See Gobbe and many would have thought that this would earn him another week’s stay in the house. However, his dream of winning the coveted prize of N25 million and an SUV was dashed after about 78 days in the BBNaija house. Like Debie-Rise always says, especially during her intimate conversations with Bassey, “The battle is not to the strong or most talented, but to whom God shows mercy.”

Popular Tanzanian rapper Emmanuel Elibariki, who performs as Ney wa Mitego, has been arrested for releasing a song deemed insulting to the government.
The song, Wapo, which has not made it to the radio airwaves yet, emerged last week and was widely shared on social media, especially on Whatsapp.
Part of it asks: “Is there still freedom of expression in the country?”
It makes reference to a doctor who lances boils but cannot tolerate criticism.
President John Magufuli has often spoken of “lancing boils” in reference to his no-nonsense approach to governing.
The police told a local newspaper: “Ney wa Mitego will be questioned for releasing a song with words that malign the government.”
The rapper is popular for his scathing lyrics attacking not only the government but even his fellow artists.
On his social media accounts he uses the name Nay true boy (translated from Swahili), saying he always speaks his mind and tells the truth.
His arrest comes just days after President John Magufuli warned media owners to be careful on how they use their press freedom.

When you are getting ready for a date, especially when it’s a first date or when you’ve only met the guy a few times before, the excitement and the nerves can get the better of you and you can sometimes forget some of important things that you meant to do. You know that you should relax and be yourself, but you still want that self to be your best self. If you find yourself in a bit of panic and you are not sure what you should be doing next, here are some tips on how to prepare for a date.
1. Allow plenty of time to get ready
Allow yourself as much time as possible to get ready for a date, because you don’t want to be rushing around at the last minute. If you can decide on what you are going to wear well in advance and get your outfit ready the day before, you will be able to take your time getting ready and you will be less likely to forget something. You will also feel less flustered when you do meet the guy for the date.
2. Tidy up your place
If the date goes well, you might end up back at your place, so have a tidy up around your home, just in case. You won’t want to be embarrassed if he comes in for a drink, or miss out on the opportunity if it arises, so clean up the bathroom, the living room and your bedroom before the date and then you won’t have to worry about it on the night.
3. Don’t make any drastic changes
If you haven’t known the guy for very long, then this is definitely not the time for a drastic makeover. He must have liked what he saw the last time you met him, so don’t suddenly change your hair style or colour or make any major changes to the way you do your makeup. You shouldn’t be experimenting with any dramatic changes to your look when you are already nervous about a date.
4. Dress for the occasion
If you know where you are going on the date, dress appropriately for the venue. Although you want to look your best and you want to make a good impression, don’t overdress for the type of date that you are going on. If it’s a surprise date, choose an outfit that is middle-of-the road and take some makeup with you, just in case you have to glam up your look.
5. Don’t go too heavy with the makeup
A lot of guys don’t like heavy makeup, especially heavy foundation, so go easy with the makeup and go for a natural look. Go easy with the lip gloss as well, or he may not be too keen on kissing you. The best makeup for a date is the type of makeup that will need minimal maintenance and that you can simply put on and forget.
6. Go easy on the perfume
Perfume is another thing that you don’t want to overdo on a date. If you don’t know the guy very well, you won’t yet know what sort of scents he likes and you don’t want to wear something that is too overpowering. You also don’t want him choking on the fumes when he leans in for a kiss! The best thing to do is spray the perfume into the air and walk into the mist. That will give you a light fragrance all over your body.
7. Don’t forget your phone
Make sure that your phone is charged and take it with you in your bag. You shouldn’t be texting your friends or checking out Facebook when you are on a date, but you might need your phone if you get lost on the way to the date or you are going to be late. You might also need your phone to call a cab if the date doesn’t go as well as you expected.
8. Know where you are going
Don’t leave deciding on how you are going to get the date to the last minute. Check out in advance where you are going and how long it will take you get there, because planning ahead will avoid another last minute panic. If you don’t know the guy very well, you should also tell someone else where you are going and what when you expect to be home.
9. Think positively
Don’t lose sight of the fact that a date is supposed to be fun! Try not to think about what could go wrong, because it probably won’t, and try not to worry too much about what he thinks of you. You’ll have a lot more fun and give a much better impression of yourself if you relax and have some fun, so think positively before the date and then you will feel a lot more confident when you get there.
10. Look like you
Whatever you decide to wear and however you decide to do your makeup, don’t forget that it’s you he likes, so make sure that you look like you when you go out on a date. If you do anything that is too different from what you would normally do, it will only make you feel uncomfortable.
