International Reggae music star Maxi Priest, who is in Kampala for the 9th edition of the annual Nile Gold Jazz & Soul Safari concert slated for this weekend, has revealed that he is excited to be back in Uganda after 20 years.
Known for his hit singles like “Close To You”, “Wild World”, and “Just A Little Bit Longer” among others, Maxi Priest held his first ever show in Uganda in 1996.
“I am excited to be back here,” he said. “The last time I was with my tour manager Zola Burse, who sadly passed away in 2010.”
He added that, “coming back here has brought back a lot of memories. I am so looking forward to the show.”
Maxi, who will be headlining this year’s edition alongside Saxophonist Jackiem Joyner a.k.a Lil man Soul and Trumpeter Lin Rountree a.k.a The Soul-Trumpeter, has promised revelers a memorable concert. He said that the “concert will about jamming” and asserted that fans will have a great time.
The Nile Gold Jazz & Soul Safari concert will take place this Saturday, October 8 at its new home at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
Tickets are on sale at 130K (Gold), 250K (Platinum) with VIP tables at 2.5Million.
