Position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow available at the Department of Mathematics. The fellowship will be for a period of 2 years. Norwegian applicants can apply for the fellowship.

The aim of the scholarship is to enable and encourage academically able students from any nationality.

The University of Oslo, is the oldest, largest and most prestigious university in Norway, located in the Norwegian capital of Oslo. UiO attracts students and researchers from all over the world.

Sufficient Scandinavian language skills to conduct fieldwork in Norway are necessary. Applicants from countries outside the Nordic countries where English is not the official language must attach a TOEFL test with minimum score of 600 unless they have a diploma from a university in an English-speaking country.

Course Level: Fellowship is provided for the postdoctoral programme at the University of Oslo.

Study Subject: Fellowship is tenable in Fluid Mechanics for sustainable development at the University of Oslo in Norway.

Scholarship Award: Pay Grade: 57 – 65  (NOK 468 100 – 567 100 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority).

Eligibility: Applicants must have a background within applied mathematics, fluid mechanics. Experience with computational fluid mechanics and model development is a prerequisite. The project objectives will require the candidates to master numerical, theoretical and experimental analyses. Competence in scientific software development is required.

  • The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
  • The candidate must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in fluid mechanics.
  • The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.
  • A good command of English is required.
