After ousting Sheikh Hasina from power in Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus has become the head of the interim government with the help of fundamentalists. But during this process of transfer of power in Bangladesh, severe atrocities were witnessed against Hindus. Many reports came to light of their houses, shops and places of worship being targeted. India also expressed concern about this. Now on the holy occasion of Navratri, such news has come from Bangladesh which will shock Hindus. The crown of Maa Kali that PM Modi had gifted to Bangladesh has been stolen by someone.

The Indian Embassy expressed deep concern over reports of theft of the crown gifted by Prime Minister Modi to the Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple in Bangladesh in 2021 and pressed the Bangladesh government to investigate the matter. According to the report of Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star, the crown of Goddess Kali was stolen between 2:00 pm and 2:30 pm on Thursday. According to The Daily Star, the tiara was stolen soon after temple priest Dilip Mukherjee left after the day’s puja and a cleaning worker found the tiara missing from the head of the idol. Being part of a temple revered as one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in Hindu mythology, the crown has deep cultural and religious significance.

During his visit to Bangladesh in March 2021, PM Modi presented a silver and gold-plated crown to Goddess Kali at the Jeshoreshwari Temple as a goodwill gesture. The visit is a significant occasion as it coincides with the celebrations of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of its founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple is located in Satkhira and is historically important, believed to be constructed in the late 12th century. It is associated with various legends in Hindu mythology, notably it is one of the sites where the body parts of the goddess Sati are said to have fallen.
