Pyrotechnician killed, two others injured due to explosion in a store of firecrackers

Due to the explosion in a store of firecrackers in Jiriyamau of Nagar Kotwali police station area in Pratapgarh district, the second and third floors of a house collapsed and one person died after being buried under the debris, while two others were seriously injured.

Police gave this information. Police station in-charge Inspector Arjun Singh said on Friday that Mukhtar Ahmed (55), a resident of Katra Medniganj, is a licensed firework and he had built a three-storey house in Jiriyamau village and was living there with his family. According to Singh, in view of Dussehra and Diwali, Mukhtar had stored firecrackers on the upper floor of the house, where after a massive explosion last night, the gas cylinder also burst and the upper two floors of the house collapsed.

Police station in-charge said that Mukhtar, his daughter-in-law Shabnam and daughter Shabnam Bano were seriously injured after being buried under the debris. He said that all three were taken to the medical college where doctors declared Mukhtar dead.

According to him, both the injured were advised to be taken to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj after first aid. Singh says that the police is investigating the matter.
