Aditya Thackeray said that his party was waiting for justice and change of Maharashtra government which will now be done by the voters. The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that elections for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will be held in a single phase on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23.

Mumbai . Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray said his party was waiting for justice and change of Maharashtra government which will now be done by the voters. The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that elections for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will be held in a single phase on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. Aditya Thackeray said in a post released on the social media platform ‘X’ that the moment for which we all as Maharashtra were eagerly waiting has arrived. November 20 is voting day.

He alleged that the change that the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) wants to bring is to oust the Eknath Shinde-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government from power which has been looting Maharashtra for the last two years. Aditya said, “We were waiting for justice but now justice will be done by the voters.” There was a rebellion in Shiv Sena in June 2022 and party leader Eknath Shinde and other MLAs had formed a separate faction.

Shinde later became the Chief Minister of the state with the support of BJP. Similarly, in July last year, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar rebelled against the party leadership and joined the government. Maharashtra’s opposition alliance MVA includes Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP). At the same time, the ruling ‘Mahayuti’ alliance includes Shinde led Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar led NCP and BJP.
