Aam Aadmi Party is unlikely to contest Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections as the party wants to focus on Delhi elections instead of creating confusion in the minds of voters in the two states which could lead to division of anti-BJP votes. According to sources, the party wants to focus on strengthening the India block. Although the Maharashtra AAP unit wants to go to the polls for organizational expansion, it is unlikely to get consent from the top leadership of AAP.

Sources further said, ‘Our focus is on Delhi and we do not want to create further confusion in the minds of voters in Maharashtra, thereby dividing anti-BJP votes.’ On October 11, Aam Aadmi Party’s National General Secretary (Organization) and Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak held an important meeting at the party headquarters regarding booth preparations for the Delhi elections. Party officials from state to booth level participated in the meeting. Sandeep Pathak talked to the workers.

He said that AAP is fully prepared for the assembly elections and stressed the need to further strengthen the already strong organization in Delhi and strengthen every booth in the state. He said that as the elections approach, the BJP will once again conspire against AAP. He urged everyone not to fall into any trap of the BJP and focus only on their politics of working for the people of Delhi.

Assembly elections in Delhi are expected to be held in early 2025. In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats and BJP won the eighth seat. Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the “biggest lesson” from the Haryana election results is to never be overconfident and asked party workers to work hard for the Delhi Assembly elections next year.
