Big news for railway passengers

Indian Railways: Indian Railways has decided to reduce the time for advance ticket booking in passenger trains from 120 days to 60 days. Railways said that the new time rule for ticket booking will come into effect from November 1, 2024. Railway Board Director (Passenger Marketing) Sanjay Manocha said that from November 1, 2024, the current limit of advance reservation in trains will be reduced from 120 days to 60 days (except the date of journey) and booking will also be done as per this new rule. Will be done.

What will happen to already booked tickets?

Sanjay Manocha said, “However, all bookings made under 120 days ARP (Advance Reservation Period) till October 31, 2024 will remain intact. But bookings made beyond the ARP of 60 days will be allowed to be cancelled. There will be no change in case of some daytime express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express etc., where lower limits for advance reservation are already in place. There will be no change in the matter of 365 days limit for foreign tourists.

Understand the New and Old Testament with examples

Let us tell you that people traveling in trains for long distances or for any special purpose like wedding, festival, examination etc. used to book seats in trains 4 months in advance to get a confirmed seat. But now this will not be possible. After the new rule, railway passengers will be able to book seats in trains only within a maximum limit of 2 months.

For example, according to the old rule, if you had to book a ticket for a train running on May 1, 2025, then you could have booked the ticket 120 days in advance i.e. on January 1, 2025. But now after the implementation of the new rule, if you want to book a ticket in a train running on May 1, 2025, then you will now be able to book the ticket maximum 60 days in advance i.e. on March 2.
