A woman’s husband and two of his family members have been arrested for harassing her and instigating her to commit suicide in Maharashtra’s Thane district. Police gave this information on Saturday.
Sub-inspector PD Amritkar said Sonali Pawar (27) had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on October 16, following which her mother lodged a complaint at Badlapur police station.
He said that the police have arrested the woman’s husband Rohit Pawar (30), his brother Dhananjay (36) and their father Satish Vitthal Pawar (62) in connection with the alleged suicide.
According to the complaint, the victim’s in-laws allegedly grabbed her jewelery and kept her hostage in their house. According to the complaint, he also physically and mentally tortured Sonali, the officer said. He said that the woman committed suicide due to alleged harassment. Her mother-in-law and sister-in-law are also accused in this case.
