As Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, Shiv Sena’s Shinde faction is reportedly set to nominate Milind Deora to contest against Aditya Thackeray in Worli constituency. Veteran politician and current Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora has a lot of experience, having previously been a three-time MP from South Mumbai. He played a significant role in the Worli constituency during the Lok Sabha elections, although it is traditionally associated with the Thackeray family. In the last assembly elections, Thackeray had won by a slim margin of just 6,500 votes, indicating a potentially tougher fight this time.

The political dynamics have been further complicated by the presence of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)’s Sandeep Deshpande, who is set to contest from Worli. This adds an additional layer of competition for both Deora and Thackeray as they prepare for the election battle. The ruling Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, the Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP and the Congress – are gearing up for the elections. They are intensifying their campaign efforts.
