A youth has been arrested for molesting a 14-year-old girl student in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. A senior police officer gave this information on Sunday.

The 22-year-old accused allegedly harassed the girl and also tried to hold her hand, he said. According to Sharma, the police have registered a case against the accused under sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), 78 (stalking) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and sexual assault. A case was registered on Saturday under the Protection of Children from Crime (POCSO) Act.
