Dinesh Karthik On Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli has not been able to perform as per his name in the Test series against New Zealand. In the second Test match against New Zealand, he scored one run in the first innings and 17 runs in the second innings. He definitely scored a half-century in the first match, but in the second match he proved to be a flop and he became the victim of Mitchell Santner in both the innings. For some time now, none of Kohli’s moves against the spinners have been working.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said that it has not been easy for Virat Kohli, the series has not been good for him, he has disappointed in three out of four innings. The spinners have troubled him. I think he’ll figure out what he needs to do to get stronger. When you reach that level of talent and super stardom, you will face challenges and here is another challenge. India likes to play on pitches that support spin, what is their gameplan?
Advised to return to playing domestic cricket
Dinesh Karthik has advised Kohli to play in domestic cricket, whereas last time when all the big players played in Duleep Trophy, BCCI did not name Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the squad. He said that we know what he is capable of doing. He probably needs to go back to domestic cricket. There is a need to focus on what needs to be done with the current DRS rules. There is no doubt that left-arm spinners are a big threat. Kohli’s Test record against spin in the last 2-3 years has not been good.
Scored only 88 runs in New Zealand series
Virat Kohli has scored a total of 88 runs in four innings of the Test series against New Zealand. Now Kohli would like to play a big innings in the third Test match to be held in Mumbai. So that he can gain momentum for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be held against Australia. India has lost the Test series on its home ground after 12 years. Earlier in the year 2012, India had lost the test against England. In these 12 years, Team India won 18 consecutive Test series.
