SIT will investigate the accident in Kerala temple.

Kasaragod: The accident occurred during Theyyam dance at a temple near Neeleshwaram in the district. More than 150 people were injured in a fire here late on Monday night. The condition of many of the injured is said to be critical. Now the investigation of this case has been handed over to SIT. It is being told that the fire incident occurred due to the explosion of firecrackers kept nearby. Now Kasargod District Police Chief D. Shilpa has announced the formation of SIT to investigate the fire incident.

Case registered under various sections

Giving information about the matter, the district administration said that the Additional Divisional Magistrate has been directed to investigate the incident separately and submit a report. Police said that this accident took place at Anjuttanabalam Veererkavu temple near Nileshwaram in Kasaragod. Nileshwaram police have registered a case under various sections of the Explosive Substances Act and BNS.

Caution was not taken in fireworks

“A case has been registered against eight people and four have been detained in connection with the incident,” a senior police officer said. The police feared that fireworks would be set off without following safety rules and guidelines. Was done, due to which this accident happened. The accident occurred when hundreds of people, including women and children, had gathered at the temple to watch Theyyam. Let us tell you that Theyyam is a centuries-old ritual conducted in the temples and sacred groves of the Malabar region of Kerala.

8 people got 80 percent burns

The District Magistrate said that those seriously injured in the accident have suffered 80 percent burn injuries. According to initial investigation, the place for storing firecrackers and the place for burning firecrackers were very close, due to which the accident occurred. The District Magistrate said, “Security precautions were not taken. The requirement of maintaining a distance of at least 100 meters between the two places was not followed. No permission was also taken for storing firecrackers. (input- agency)
