A shark attacked a 61-year-old surfer in the island of Maui and bit his leg so badly that it got severed. The authorities gave this information.
The man was “surfing” at Waihu Beach Park Friday morning when he was bitten by a shark, Maui County said in a news release. The police officers who reached the spot first tried to stop the bleeding. It said the man’s leg was “completely amputated just below the knee.”
The man was conscious when given first aid and was then taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center. Authorities said the man was in critical condition. After this incident the authorities closed the ‘Beach Park’.
Officials have warned people to stay away from water in the area. Earlier in June, famous ‘surfer’ Tamayo Perry died in a shark attack while surfing on the north shore of Oahu.
