New Delhi: Disengagement of troops on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) has been completed after bilateral talks between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia. Now the Indian Army has started its verification on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Indian troops are carrying out verification patrolling in Depsang, the second point of standoff with China. The Foreign Ministry gave this information on Saturday. Let us inform that patrolling has resumed in Demchok on Friday, a day after the retreat of Indian and Chinese troops from the two standoff points (Demchok and Depsang) in eastern Ladakh.

Responding to a question at a weekly press conference, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said verification patrols have been started in Demchok and Depsang on mutually agreed terms following the agreement with China on disengagement of troops. In this it is being seen where and how much disengagement has taken place. Indian and Chinese troops had exchanged sweets at several points along the LAC on the occasion of Diwali on Thursday, a day after the withdrawal of troops from the two friction points was completed. Sources had earlier said that deployment of troops and patrolling are likely to be as per the situation before April 2020.

Both countries withdrew troops from the conflict site

After bilateral talks between India and China, both the countries have withdrawn their troops from the conflict areas. Therefore, to verify this, soldiers of India and China are patrolling the border together. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said in Delhi on October 21 that after ongoing talks over the past several weeks, an agreement has been finalized between India and China, which will resolve the impasse arising from the 2020 military clash. The agreement reached between the two countries on patrolling and disengagement of troops along the LAC in eastern Ladakh was being seen as a major breakthrough towards ending the standoff that has continued for more than four years. After the fierce clash in Galwan Valley in June 2020, the standoff on the LAC in eastern Ladakh continued and India-China relations reached a low point. (Language)
