Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan held meetings here on Wednesday with senior officials of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh to review the progress made in talks to resolve the border standoff.

According to sources, the Chief Secretaries of the three states met the Union Home Secretary separately and presented their views. Mohan also reviewed the agreements signed by Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh with Assam to resolve border disputes.

Neither the Assam government nor these meetings were organised. She remained tight-lipped about the conversations that took place between the Center and top bureaucrats of the three states and did not share any information. Sources said another meeting was held to consider the flood situation in Assam.

Mohan also held a meeting with the chief executive councilors of Rabha Hassong Autonomous Council, Tiwa Autonomous Council and Mising Autonomous Council in the presence of Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu to discuss their issues.

“The councils presented their powers and functions and urged for constitutional status to be given to these three councils,” the minister said in a post on social media platform ‘X’. I attended the meeting with Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota.
