Delhi Air Quality Air quality in Delhi remains 'very poor' for 13th day, visibility reduced to 800 meters
Air quality in the national capital Delhi continues to remain at poor levels. Even on Monday 11th November the air quality remained very poor. This is the 13th consecutive day when the air level has fallen so much. At 8 pm, the 24-hour average air quality index was recorded at 348, which is a very poor level.
Its level was 334 (very bad) at 4 pm on Sunday evening, after which there has been a slight increase in pollution. The AQI was 352 (very poor) at 4 pm on Saturday. The Indian Meteorological Department said fog blanketed the capital in the morning, with visibility falling to 800 meters in Safdarjung. It said there is a possibility of fog for the rest of the day on Monday, especially at night. Visibility less than 1,000 meters is considered fog, but relative humidity less than 75% is called haze.
An IMD official said that on Saturday and Sunday the wind speed increased slightly to 10 kilometers per hour during the day. Its speed is expected to be 4 to 6 kilometers per hour on Monday. The wind direction is likely to be eastern to south-eastern. “The wind remains calm at night, causing fog and mist. Its speed increases slightly during the day,” the official said.
According to Central Pollution Control Board data, two stations – Jahangirpuri (411) and Bawana (401) – recorded air quality in the severe category. Delhi’s overall AQI became “very poor” on October 30 and has remained in this category since then.
