The first aircraft of the entity formed after the merger of Air India-Vistara took off from Doha for Mumbai on Monday night. The code of this flight was AI2286 and it departed from Doha for Mumbai at around 10 pm local time.

The plane reached Mumbai early on Tuesday. This is the first international flight of the integrated entity formed after the merger of Air India and Vistara. The unit’s first domestic flight AI2984 departed from Mumbai for Delhi at around 1.30 am on Monday. A320 aircraft was used for this.

It reached the national capital early Tuesday. After the merger, Vistara’s flights are being operated by Air India. The code AI2XXX is being used for Vistara flights to help passengers identify a Vistara flight at the time of booking.

Vistara, a joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines, has now merged with Air India. After the merger, Singapore Airlines holds 25.1 percent stake in the expanded Air India. Vistara’s flight ‘UK115’ from Delhi to Singapore was the last international flight with UK code while ‘UK986’ from Mumbai to Delhi was the last domestic flight.
