The Chief Justice said, the Constitution entrusts us with the responsibility of fulfilling the important function of being a constitutional guardian, protector of fundamental rights and a service provider of justice.
President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Justice Khanna as the 51st Chief Justice at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Justice Khanna spoke of feeling extremely honored to lead the judiciary, the third pillar of democracy. In his first statement on Monday, the Chief Justice said the judiciary is an integral, yet separate and independent part of the governance system. The Constitution entrusts us with the responsibility of fulfilling the important function of being the constitutional guardian, protector of fundamental rights and service provider of justice.
