ACB raids Mahila police station in Bharatpur, suspicious cash worth more than Rs 4.54 lakh found

A team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a surprise check at the Mahila Police Station in Bharatpur on Tuesday. During this, suspicious cash amounting to Rs 4.54 lakh was recovered from the cupboard of the office room of the reader of the police station officer.

A senior officer said that during the search of the official residence of the police station officer, cash worth more than one lakh rupees was also found. Bureau Director General Ravi Prakash Mehrada said that confidential information was received to the effect that Mahila Police Station SHO Bhanwar Singh and his reader Constable Jaisingh had taken a huge amount as bribe. This amount is kept in the cupboard of his office.

He said that acting on the information, a surprise check was conducted at the police station on Tuesday. During the operation, suspicious cash amount of Rs 4 lakh 54 thousand 700 was recovered in 15 envelopes kept with various research files while searching the cupboard kept in the reader room of the police station officer located in the police station premises.

At the same time, during the search of the official residence of the accused police station officer Bhanwar Singh, a suspicious amount of Rs 1 lakh 17 thousand was recovered. The accused could not give any satisfactory answer regarding the said suspicious amount, on which the ACB took it into its custody. Further investigation is being done in the matter.
