The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday handed over Rs 5 lakh as assistance to the family of a woman who lost her life in a grenade attack. An official spokesperson gave this information.
The woman had succumbed to injuries in a grenade attack here earlier this month. Social Welfare and Education Minister Sakina Masood visited Sumbal in Bandipora and met the family of Abida Lone and expressed her condolences.
Abida Lone died after being injured in a grenade attack in a market in the city, the spokesperson said. Abida has three small children. As a gesture of support, Minister Masood handed over a check of Rs 2.5 lakh to Abida’s husband and a fixed deposit receipt (FDR) of Rs 2.5 lakh for the future needs of her children, the spokesperson said.
