Despite all efforts, the severe air pollution is not reducing in Delhi-NCR. The Air Quality Index in Delhi has been in the Severe-Plus category for the last three days. AQI was above 500 in many areas of Delhi. Anti-smog guns were used and water spraying was done in many areas of Delhi. All the restrictions under Grape-4 are being strictly implemented but no significant effect is being seen.
Experts say that if the situation continues like this, if a thick blanket of smog remains in the sky, then the people of Delhi will have to breathe poisonous air for the next two weeks. Experts say that since winter is increasing, the temperature will fall, in such a situation if the wind speed does not increase and there is no rain, then the people of Delhi will have to face the problem of air pollution till February.
The biggest problem in Delhi is due to the haze in the sky and there are only two solutions to it – either very strong winds blow or it rains. Therefore, now the discussion of making fake rain in Delhi has started. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has written a letter to Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav suggesting that the Central Government should immediately call a meeting to take a decision on fake rain. Gopal Rai said that he has written a letter to the Union Environment Minister thrice before, but no reply has been received yet. Therefore now Prime Minister Narendra Modi should intervene in this matter.
No matter how much the leaders talk, no matter how much they accuse each other, no one has any concrete solution to Delhi’s air pollution. The simple fact is that if strong winds blow, pollution will reduce. If it rains, pollution will end. It is not in anyone’s power to control the wind. But some people talk about fake rain. Artificial rain is done through cloud seeding. Many people asked that if rain can be made through cloud seeding in Dubai then why can’t it happen in Delhi?
According to a report, attempts for artificial rain were made in 2019 and 2021 but failed. The reason for this is that for cloud seeding it is necessary to have some clouds. It is important to have moisture in the air, but in winter the air of Delhi is cold and dry. Cloud seeding or simulated rain is the process of converting moisture in the air into rain. If there were clouds and moisture in the air, it could have rained by creating artificial pressure, but experts say that this is not possible in Delhi at this time. (Rajat Sharma)
