The ICC decision makes Netanyahu and others international wanted suspects and is likely to isolate them and complicate efforts to negotiate a ceasefire to end the 13-month-long conflict. However, its practical effects may be limited because Israel and its key ally the US are not ICC members. Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders have condemned ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan’s request for a warrant, calling it outrageous and anti-Semitic. US President Joe Biden also condemned the prosecutor and supported Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas.
