A massive explosion occurred around midnight in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, resulting in the collapse of three houses and the tragic death of two persons – a mother and her daughter. Several other people were injured and buried under debris in the blast, reportedly caused by a gas cylinder explosion.
Emergency teams are actively carrying out rescue operations to locate any survivors, with officials fearing that the death toll could rise once the debris is cleared.
Rescue operations are being carried out with the help of JCB machines to remove the debris and search for the victims. Preliminary investigation suggests that the explosion may have been caused by illegally stored firecrackers in Munshi Rathore’s house, although the exact cause is still being investigated.
Morena Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ravi Soner gave an update on the ongoing rescue operation after the blast. He said, “The rescue operation has been going on for the last 6-7 hours. So far two bodies have been recovered and two more people are likely trapped under the debris. We are continuing the search and will complete the operation as soon as possible.” Will make every possible effort to do so.” Authorities are working tirelessly to locate any survivors, in order to prevent further casualties.
The injured were first taken to Morena District Hospital and later referred to Gwalior for further treatment. The incident is the second such blast in the area in recent months, following a similar tragedy in October that claimed two lives.
