TRAI New Rule

TRAI’s new rule has come into effect from today i.e. 1st October. With the implementation of the new rule, crores of mobile users of the country are going to get relief from fake calls and messages. Apart from this, users are also going to get rid of the problem of bad network. TRAI has given priority to quality of service for telecom services in its new rules. In view of the way people are being defrauded through fake calls and messages in the last few years, the telecom regulator has implemented these new rules. Earlier this rule was to be implemented from September 1, but on the demand of telecom operators and other stakeholders, its deadline was extended by 30 days.

Fake calls and messages will not come

In the new rule of TRAI, network operators have been instructed to block messages containing URL, APK link, OTT link using technology. The user will not receive any messages that contain any URLs. Users will receive messages containing links only from those institutions and telemarketers who have been whitelisted.

In view of the problems faced by telemarketers and institutions, the telecom regulator has decided to make the rules for whitelisting messages more flexible. Telemarketers will be able to whitelist messages containing URLs or other sensitive information such as OTPs based on message templates suggested by the regulator. Users will not receive marketing calls from institutions or telemarketers that are not whitelisted.

better network coverage

In its new rule, the telecom regulator has directed telecom operators to balance their mobile network technology. For example, a telecom operator uses network technology based on different locations, so that users can get better connectivity. Network coverage is completely dependent on location, so telecom operators use network technology based on location.

According to TRAI’s new rules, the network operator will have to provide details of the network technology used on a per location basis on its website. By doing this, it will be easier for the users to check which network technology is being used in which area and they will be able to check the coverage.

Quality of Service (QoS) Report

TRAI has set a quality of service standard for wireless and wireline services. According to the new regulation, telecom operators will now have to publish information ranging from quality of service performance to network availability, call drop rate including voice packet drop rate etc. on their website every month. Earlier operators were publishing it quarterly i.e. every three months.
