Shakib has been accused of murder
Shakib faces murder charges in Bangladesh, which came at a time when the country was rocked by civil unrest that led to the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Shakib was a member of parliament from Hasina’s party Awami League. The current government of Bangladesh is not keen on giving Shakib a farewell match and the current president of Bangladesh Cricket Board, Farooq Ahmed, says that his organization is not a security agency. In such a situation, Kanpur Test could be Shakib’s 71st and last Test match.
