The auction for the SA20 2025 season has ended in Cape Town. Around 200 players were shortlisted for the auction, out of which all 6 franchises have bought a total of 13 players. There have been two seasons of SA20 so far and both the titles have been won by Sunrisers Eastern Cape under the captaincy of Aiden Markram. The third season of the tournament will start from January 9 next year till February 8.
Shamar Joseph joins Dubran Super Giants team
MI Cape Town team has taken three players in the auction. These include Reeza Hendrix, Dan Piedt and Colin Ingram. Reeza Hendrix is the most expensive seller in the auction. He was bought by MI for R4.300000. Whereas Joburg Super Kings team has bought three players. These include Vihaan Lubbe and Evan Jones, Doug Bracewell. West Indies star fast bowler Shamar Joseph has been included in the Durban Super Giants team. Shamar has performed well for some time. He single-handedly led West Indies to victory in the Gabba Test against Australia. Paul Royals team has bought only one player and that is wicketkeeper Rubin Harman.
Evin Lewis joins Pretoria Capitals team
Pretoria Capitals have included West Indies batsman Evin Lewis in their squad. Evin has experience, which can be useful to the team. He is known for scoring runs at a high run rate in T20 cricket. This 32-year-old player has so far scored 1465 runs in 53 T20 International matches for West Indies, which includes two centuries and 10 half-centuries.
South African Test captain Temba Bavuma has not been bought by any franchise in the SA20 2025 auction. So far, he has scored 3102 runs in 59 test matches for Africa, which includes 2 centuries and 21 half-centuries. Apart from this, he has 1572 runs in his name in ODI and 670 runs in T20 International. Then he remained unsold in the auction. On the other hand, Ireland’s Josh Little, who has played in the IPL, has also remained unsold.
Kamendu Mendis had performed well in Test cricket for Sri Lanka this year and he is the batsman to score the most 5 Test centuries in the year 2024. No franchise showed interest in buying him either.
