Firing at Sukhbir Singh Badal: Bullets fired at Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, accused arrested
There has been a fatal attack on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal. This attack took place on Wednesday morning. On Wednesday morning, a person opened fire on him in the Golden Temple in Amritsar. At this time Sukhbir Singh Badal was bowing his head at the entrance of the Golden Temple. Police have identified the shooter who fired at several leaders including former Shiromani Akali Dal president Badal as Narayan Singh Chaura. The people present at the spot controlled him and caught him.
ADCP Harpal Singh said, “There was proper security arrangement here… Sukhbir ji was given proper security… Narayan Singh Chaura (attacker) was here yesterday also… even today he bowed to the Guru first… When asked whether anyone was hurt by the bullet, he said no one was injured. Singh said, “The security arrangements were proper. The person (shooter) tried to do some mischief, but he could not succeed.” The police officer said Badal was not injured.
Dressed in blue ‘sevadar’ uniform, Badal was sitting at the entrance of the Golden Temple with a plaque card hanging around his neck, indicating the religious ‘Tankah’ declared by the Akal Takht Board for religious misconduct during his tenure from 2007 to 2017. Was part of the punishment. Suddenly a person opened fire on them. The people standing around him immediately caught the shooter.
In August, the Akal Takht had declared Badal ‘tankhaiya’ (guilty of religious misconduct), following which religious punishment was announced for him. Badal, who was the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab from 2007 to 2017, has been working as a ‘sevadaar’ at the Golden Temple – washing utensils, shoes and bathrooms. The Akal Takht issued the punishment to the Shiromani Akali Dal and its government in Punjab from 2007 to 2017, citing “mistakes” and “certain decisions” made by them.
Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema said, “…First of all I want to thank Guru Nanak. Jako rakhe saiyan, maar sake na koi. Servants were serving here. Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal Guru Ramdas was sitting as a watchman at the gate…I thank Guru Nanak that he saved his servant…This is a big incident, into which era Punjab is being pushed. I want to ask the CM of Punjab, where do you want to take Punjab? The attacker was caught on the spot. I also thank the security personnel here for taking immediate action. It would not have happened…there should be a high level judicial inquiry into this incident…we will continue our service…”
