Hours after Mahayuti was nominated for the chief ministerial post, Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said he will take oath tomorrow (December 5) at 5.30 pm at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. During a press conference, a joking exchange was seen between Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Outgoing Maharashtra Chief Minister Shinde was asked whether he would join the Devendra Fadnavis-led government. Shinde maintained suspense on this at that time. Ajit Pawar intervened and jokingly said that he was going to take oath as Deputy Chief Minister. After this, Shinde humorously commented on Pawar’s ‘experience’ in the swearing-in.

Responding in the same manner, Shinde said, “Dada (Ajit Pawar) has the experience of taking oath both in the morning and evening.” The comment was an apparent reference to Pawar’s early-morning swearing-in as Fadnavis’ deputy in 2019, during the BJP-NCP alliance that dissolved within days.
