United Nations. The United Nations has said that humanitarian aid has not been able to reach northern Gaza on a large scale for the last 66 days. Israel began ground operations in northern Gaza on October 6 and since then 65 thousand to 75 thousand Palestinians have been deprived of access to food, water, electricity and health care. Israel continues its siege of Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun and Jabaliya in northern Gaza, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHO) said.
The Palestinians living there have been deprived of aid. OCHO also said that Israel has forcibly sent about 5,500 people from three schools in Beit Lahiya to Gaza City. OCHA said the food crisis has deepened and only four UN-supported ‘bakeries’ are currently operating in the Gaza Strip.
Sigrid Kaag, the UN’s senior humanitarian and reconstruction coordinator for Gaza, told reporters after briefing the UN Security Council on Tuesday afternoon that people in Gaza were facing dire conditions. He said that law and order has collapsed and there is looting, which has made the situation more serious and the United Nations and many aid organizations are unable to deliver food and other items to millions of needy Palestinians.
