Seven people are reported dead in a massive fire at a private hospital in Dindigul city of Tamil Nadu. More than 100 patients are trapped inside the hospital, efforts are on to rescue them. This hospital is four storeyed. The fire in the hospital has created panic in the entire area. More than 50 ambulances, including private ambulances, have been called to shift patients to other hospitals.
Fire brigade and police personnel are continuously engaged in relief work. Till the time of writing the news, the rescue workers engaged in relief work are busy in evacuating the patients from the four-storey building of the hospital. Many parts of the hospital have been badly damaged due to the fire.
Relief and rescue operations underway at the scene
The fire department said that after receiving information about the fire, the teams immediately reached the spot and started rescue operations. However, rescue operations are facing difficulty due to heavy smoke and fire in the hospital. Special ambulances have been arranged to rescue the patients stuck in the hospital. More than 50 ambulances and private ambulances have also been included in this effort, so that patients can be immediately shifted to other hospitals.
Panic among patients and their families
The local police and fire officials have taken prompt action considering the seriousness of the matter. Police said that the number of dead and the reasons for the incident are being ascertained. Officials also said that all possible help is being provided in the relief work and investigation into the cause of the fire has been started. After the fire in the hospital, panic spread among the patients and their families.
