New Delhi: Cold is going to increase in Delhi-NCR and its surrounding areas. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be severe cold in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh from next week. During this period, along with cold wave, dense fog may also occur in these states.

According to the information given by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of cold wave in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on December 13. At the same time, cold will increase in Delhi and its surrounding areas from December 14.

Dense fog may be seen over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 24 hours. At the same time, light fog will be seen in some states including Bihar and Eastern UP during the morning.

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhiites faced severe cold on Thursday as the temperature dropped to 4.5 degrees Celsius, the coldest morning of this season. Light winds will blow in Delhi-NCR. According to the department, winds can blow at a speed of 8 km/hour.

Rain may continue in Karnataka even today. IMD has predicted moderate rainfall across southern Karnataka. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi till December 14. Yellow alert for rain has been issued in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural and surrounding districts today.

How will the weather be in other parts of the country?

The minimum temperatures over East India are expected to gradually drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next two days, while the minimum temperatures over West India are expected to rise by a similar margin. The IMD forecast for North India suggests that minimum temperatures are expected to remain fairly stable over the northwest and central regions over the next four to five days. Let us tell you that cold wave is declared in the plains when the minimum temperature drops to 4 degrees Celsius or below or when it drops 4.5 to 6.4 degrees below normal.
