More members of the Kapoor family entered the film world and became superstars. But there is one darling of the Kapoor family who chose a different path from the world of glamour. This darling not only kept distance from films, but also kept a distance from his acting brothers. This darling is none other than Shashi Kapoor’s son Aditya Raj Kapoor. Aditya Raj Kapoor on Saturday revealed many stories from his life. He also told why he had distanced himself from his star brother Rishi Kapoor.
Aditya Raj Kapoor revealed many secrets
In a conversation with ETimes, Aditya Raj Kapoor said, ‘Raj Sahab is a cinematic poet who redefined the way people look at social platforms and romance. Much of today’s cinematic production, whether in script, editing or direction, owes its legacy to giants like him, who dared to dream beyond the darkness. Raj Kapoor played a brilliant role in this. Aditya said, ‘I often wonder what kind of destiny he felt compelled to fulfill. It could even be the basis for a new movie! He started by depicting social themes, filled them with romance and eventually presented complex relationships between the characters. Through his direction and nurturing, he revolutionized creativity in Indian cinema.’
Why kept distance from the film world?
Recalling the time he spent with his uncle, Aditya said, ‘I spent a few years at RK Studios under Randhir Kapoor and Raj Saab. Even today, Steven Spielberg’s Apprentice cannot be compared to the platform created by Raj Saab. This is because in those days we ourselves were searching for time. Today, things are different with advancements like computer technology. Raj Saab was in favor of expansion. He looked for beauty in the mundane and made the ordinary extraordinary. His unwavering passion for storytelling with music and cinematography left no room for shortcuts – it was all or nothing.’ Aditya said, ‘Okay, yes I stayed away. And I avoided meeting Raj uncle or his son Randhir for years. Because I felt like I had run away from the family. But I had my reasons for doing something else. Raj Uncle had discovered everything that was possible cinematically. What new will I do?’
