According to officials, the girls were sleeping in their mud house when the elephant attacked and demolished a part of the house. When the people of the house saw the elephant, they ran outside to save their lives while the sleeping girls remained there. After this the wild elephant crushed both the girls to death.

According to officials, this is a lone elephant, who may have got separated from his herd. A radio collar has been fitted on the elephant but still it could not be traced. The service provider of the GSM SIM card installed in the radio collar does not have a network in this area.
