Amravati: 21 policemen have been injured in stone pelting by a mob demanding registration of a case against the Mahant of the Dasna temple in Ghaziabad district for his alleged ‘objectionable’ statement against Prophet Mohammed in Maharashtra’s Amravati city. According to the information given by the police, it later filed a case against Mahant Yati Narsimhanand Maharaj of the temple located in Dasna in Ghaziabad district for making remarks against the Prophet. At the same time, the police have also arrested 12 people in the stone pelting case.

Police identified several accused

Police said that at least 10 police vans were damaged in the stone pelting incident that took place outside Nagpuri Gate police station in Amravati city on Friday night. An official said that a case has been registered against 1200 people in this connection and the police have identified many of the accused. Amaravati Police Commissioner Naveen Chandra Reddy said, ‘A huge crowd, including people from some organizations, had reached Nagpuri Gate police station at around 08:15 pm demanding registration of a case against Mahant Yati Narasimhanand Maharaj of Dasna Temple in Ghaziabad district. ‘

‘Sudden stone pelting on policemen’

The police commissioner said that the in-charge of that police station told the crowd that an FIR had already been registered regarding their demand and the investigation was ongoing, after which the crowd went back. He said, ‘When some people circulated the video of Mahant’s statement, a large group of people returned to Nagpuri Gate police station and when the police officers were trying to pacify the crowd, people suddenly started pelting stones at the policemen. Gave.’ He said that senior police officers handled the situation well and dispersed the crowd and sent extra forces to the spot.

Section 163 imposed in Nagpuri Gate area

The Police Commissioner said, ‘Some policemen and officers were injured in the mob attack and the police is taking action against the people involved in the mob.’ He said that the police has issued prohibitory order under Section 163 of BNSS, prohibiting the gathering of 5 or more people in Nagpuri Gate area. Another senior police officer, Afler, said that 21 policemen were injured and 10 police vans were damaged in the stone pelting incident. He said that the police is searching for the rioters. Police said that a case has been registered against Yeti Narsimhanand Maharaj at Nagpuri Gate police station for his alleged objectionable remarks.
