The new Bajaj Chetak is going to be launched on 14 January. After a gap of 14 years, Bajaj has made a comeback in the scooter market. Chetak was revealed in an electric avatar in October 2019. With this, the company ventured into the electric two-wheeler market. Chetak Electric will be first launched in Pune and Bengaluru. After that it will be launched in other major cities.
Bajaj Chetak Electric will be sold through Bajaj’s existing probing sales network. This network also sells KTM and Husqvarna bikes. Chetak’s design mixes retro and modern look. It also has modern technology like ABS. Ex-showroom price of Bajaj Chetak Electric can be close to Rs 1 lakh. It will compete with Ather 450 and Okinawa Praise.
Will meet two riding modes
Bajaj Chetak Electric will be available in two riding modes – Eco and Sport. The scooter will be able to cover up to 95 km in Eco mode and up to 85 km in Sport mode. The new Bajaj Chetak will have a fixed type portable Li-Ion battery. The battery can be charged from a standard 5-15 amp outlet. Apart from this, there will also be an option of home charging station. ICE (internal combustion engine) powered conventional version of the new Bajaj Chetak Electric is also expected to be launched later.
Its potential features include Integrated Braking System (IBS); Large digital instrument panel providing information on battery range, odometer and tripmeter; Bluetooth connectivity support for smartphone and turn-by-turn navigation, front and rear disc brakes, LED headlamps and tail lights, telescopic front forks and monoshocks, stepped seats, LED turn indicators, glove box etc. are included. Bajaj Chetak will come with the Electric Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS), which controls the charge and discharge of the battery. It will also get reverse assist mode and regenerative braking features.
