The second richest person in the world, Bill Gates, recently bought his first electric car. This is Porsche Taycan. The Taycan is Porsche’s first all-electric sports car. It was launched by the company in September 2019 against Tesla’s electric cars. Taycan is sold in the US in three variants, the Taycan 4S, the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan Turbo S.
The price of Taycan Turbo is $ 150900 i.e. around 1.08 crores. At the same time, the price of Taycan Turbo S is $ 185,000 i.e. about Rs 1.32 crore. Porsche launched the Taycan 4S model in October 2019, priced at $ 1.03 lakh.
Taycan Turbo’s rival Tesla’s electric luxury sedan Model S car starts at $ 1 lakh, or about Rs 71.88 lakh.
Battery, Speed and Range
The Porsche Taycan has a 93 kW hour lithium ion battery pack. The car has dual electric motors. The Taycan Turbo can achieve 0-60 mph from 616 horsepower in just 3 seconds. The Taycan Turbo S 750 can hold 0-60 mph speed in just 2.6 seconds with horsepower and its top speed is 161 mph.
At the same time, Model S of Tesla catches 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds. The estimated range of the Taycan Turbo is 201 miles, the estimated range of the Taycan Turbo S is 192 miles. At the same time, Tesla Model S is able to cover 348 miles.
Interior and Features
The Taycan features like advanced climate control, multi function sport steering wheel, panoramic fixed glass roof, four point LED headlights. Leather is not used in the interior of the Taycan. Its seats are made of recycled material. There is a 10.9 inch touchscreen display on the dashboard inside the car, which also has a voice control function.
Digital buttons are instead of physical buttons inside the car. The instrument cluster is a 16.8 inch curved display. The control panel is with direct touch control for light selection and chassis functions. There is an 8.4 inch center console control panel, which provides navigation, media, telephone, settings and access to Apple Car Play.
Gates has relied on Porsche
Bill Gates has already bought several Porsche cars many times. They also include the Porsche 911 Supercar. Porsche 911 was bought by Gates in 1979, when he first started earning from Microsoft. Later Gates also bought the Porsche 930 Turbo and the rare Porsche 959 sports car. Only a few hundred models of the Porsche 959 were made.
