President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday released a commemorative coin and postage stamp of Rs 75 in Parliament to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the country’s Constitution. This historic coin was released during a ceremony held at the Central Hall of the Constitution House in New Delhi. Addressing the joint meeting of both the Houses of Parliament on Constitution Day, Murmu said that the Constitution is a living and progressive document. The President also unveiled the first Sanskrit copy of the Constitution and its Maithili version.
Appeal to Indians to follow fundamental duties
According to the news, while addressing the gathering, President Draupadi Murmu reflected on the adoption of the Constitution 75 years ago and described it as a historic moment. He also emphasized the contribution of 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly in shaping the foundational text of the country. The President urged all Indians to imbibe the constitutional ideals in their conduct and perform their fundamental duties and work towards achieving the national goal of a developed India by the year 2047.

President Murmu said that I am very happy to be among you all on the auspicious occasion of Constitution Day. The Constitution is the most sacred text of our country. Our Constitution is the strong foundation of our democratic republic. Our Constitution ensures our collective and individual self-respect. The diversity of our country found expression in our Constituent Assembly. With the presence of representatives of all the provinces and territories in the Constituent Assembly, the All India consciousness got a voice.

President Murmu said that as per the spirit of the Constitution, it is the responsibility of the executive, legislature and judiciary to work together to ease the lives of the common people. He said that during the last few years, the Government has taken several steps for the development of all sections of the society, especially the weaker sections. Due to such decisions, people’s lives have improved and they are getting new opportunities for progress.
