DA Hike: Government employees and pensioners of this state are happy, dearness allowance increased by 3%, know when will they get it?

Government employees or government pensioners wait for the increase in dearness allowance from time to time. Now Gujarat government has given good news to its employees or government pensioners on Wednesday. The state government has increased dearness allowance by 3 percent. According to PTI news, the government on Wednesday announced a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for about nine lakh employees and pensioners to 53 percent of the basic salary.

When will the outstanding amount be received?

According to the news, this decision will be applicable retrospectively from July 1, 2024. The Finance Department issued a proposal to increase DA from the existing 50 per cent of basic pay to 53 per cent under the Gujarat State Service (Pay Revision) Rules, 2016, which will benefit more than nine lakh employees and pensioners.

The outstanding amount for the July to November period will be distributed in January 2025 along with December salaries and pensions. All state government and panchayat employees, teaching and non-teaching staff in secondary and higher secondary schools, and employees of aided non-government schools covered under the Seventh Pay Commission will benefit from the hike.

The government has also said that with appropriate modifications, this benefit will also be available to primary teachers and employees working on deputation or transfer in Panchayats, who have been approved for pay revision as per the Commission. The issue of increasing the rate for state government employees and pensioners by 3 percent from the existing 50 percent to 53 percent from July 1, 2024, was under consideration of the government. After careful consideration, DA (53% of basic pay) has been approved.
