Delhi Metro has started a special facility keeping women in mind, in which if they travel, they can now book their bike taxi through the official mobile app of Delhi Metro, DMRC Momentum (Delhi Sarathi 2.0). With this, women will not need to rotate between multiple apps. This facility has been started for women under the name SHERYDS, while a similar service for common passengers has been started under the name RYDR. According to the news, SheRides – for women, by women is a custom-telegraphed initiative designed to meet the needs and preferences of women metro commuters.
It also empowers women to travel freely and safely to their destination at their convenience. It provides women drivers with an earning opportunity so they can live with dignity and respect while focusing on making first and last mile connectivity easier for Delhiites. Bike taxis run by women ensure safe travel for women passengers. Bike taxis are available at metro stations for last mile connectivity. Environment friendly: Electric bikes reduce carbon footprint.
Booking and Charges
All ladies bike taxis are provided by trained and verified lady drivers. Its booking is very easy. The taxi also has GPS tracking, allowing rides to be monitored in real time. The minimum booking fee is ₹10/- thereafter for the first 2 kilometers it is ₹10/- per kilometer and thereafter ₹8/- per kilometer. This facility is providing economic opportunities for women drivers. Also available as reliable transportation for women.
RYDR facility for all
According to DMRC, RYDR aims to provide an efficient and productive service to all passengers of Delhi Metro. This bike taxi service, running parallel to SHERYDS, will focus on optimizing rider routes and ensuring shorter, more efficient travel times. Unlike traditional models where drivers can travel long distances, Rider keeps riders within a specified radius, ensuring both safety and shorter travel times.
Present at these 12 metro stations
This bike taxi service is currently provided from 12 metro stations, namely, Dwarka Sector-21, Dwarka Sector-10, Dwarka Sector-14, Dwarka Mod, Janakpuri West, Uttam Nagar East, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Millennium City Center Gurugram and Palam. A total of 50 SHERIs and 150 RYDRs will run between 8:00 am to 9:00 pm within a radius of approximately 3-5 kilometers from these stations. After this, more than 100 stations will be covered with this facility in a month. The remaining stations will be covered in the next three months, further strengthening the last mile connectivity across all 250 metro stations of DMRC.
