Now your credit and debit card will be more secure than before. When you do not have to use it, you will be able to switch it off. At the same time, if you want to use it, then you will be able to switch it on. The advantage of this is that even if your card is lost, no one will be able to use it due to the switch off. In fact, the Reserve Bank of India has asked all banks and other card issuing companies to provide customers with the facility to close and open their debit or credit or virtual cards themselves (switch on and switch off).
App, internet banking, options available at ATM
Customers can get such option through mediums like mobile apps, internet banking, ATM machines. The purpose of this step is to make digital transactions more secure through cards. RBI said in a circular that cardholders should be given such facilities by the card issuing companies to ‘switch on and switch off’ the card or change it within the card payment limit.
Facility will be available 24 hours
The Reserve Bank has said that this facility should be available 24 hours. Customers should have the option to adopt such an option in any way, including mobile apps, Internet banking ATM machines and ‘voice response’. The central bank said that the existing cards which would never have been used for online payment, must be made inoperative for such payment. The fresh instructions will not be applicable in the case of cards like prepaid gift cards and metro cards.
Some banks are still providing facilities
Please tell that in the present time too many banks are giving this facility on the mobile app. The app has an option of switch off and switch on. After using the card, it can be switched off by going to the mobile app. After which that card becomes inactive in a way. At the same time, the card can be switched on when used. After which the card will be activated.
