Will be able to handle 2 crore passengers every year

According to the news, in the first phase, the airport will have one runway and a terminal building, whose design will be inspired by the lotus, which will be able to handle 2 crore passengers every year. The 2 lakh square meter T1 is being designed as per LEED Gold standards (LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a green building certification program used across the world).

There will be four terminals and two parallel runways

According to reports, once completed, the new airport will have four terminals and two parallel runways, with parking space for 350 aircraft.

The layout of the airport will allow smooth navigation between terminals. NMIA will serve as Mumbai’s second international aviation hub, which is nearing full capacity. Navi Mumbai International Airport is spread over 1,160 hectares in Navi Mumbai. After Adani took over the project from GVK in 2020, construction began in 2021 and is now on track despite earlier delays.

With Navi Mumbai International Airport becoming fully operational, the pressure of air traffic and passenger rush at Mumbai Airport will reduce. The convenience of passengers will increase and the airlines companies will also benefit from it. At present Mumbai Airport is one of the busiest airports.
