According to Indian Railways, the rules say that a berth or seat reserved in the name of a person will be used only by that person and cannot be transferred to any other person. But at the same time, Railways also provides the facility to change the name of the passenger in the confirmed reservation ticket in some special circumstances. Yes, there are certain rules and conditions for this, only on the basis of which change in the name of the passenger will be possible.
According to Indian Railways rules, the Chief Reservation Supervisor of important stations has been authorized to grant permission for change in the name of a passenger having a reserved seat or berth in his name under certain circumstances. You have to make a request for this as per the prescribed deadline and rules.
There are provisions for change in the name of the passenger in the following circumstances
-There is an option to change the name where the passenger is a Government servant on duty and the appropriate authority makes a request in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
– When the passenger requests in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train that the reservation made in his name be transferred to any other member of his family, i.e. mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband and wife. If you go, this facility is available.
-If the passenger is a student of a recognized educational institution and the head of the institution requests in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train that the reservation made in the name of a student be transferred to another student of the same institution, then the name is changed. May go.
-If the passengers are members of a wedding party and any person deemed to be the head of such party requests in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, that the reservation made in the name of any member of the wedding party be transferred to another person. If given, there is an option to change the name even in such circumstances.
– If the passengers are a group of National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and an officer heading the group requests in writing at least 24 hours before the departure of the train that the reservation made in the name of one cadet may be transferred to another cadet. This option is available even if the account is transferred.
