Industrialist, philanthropist and former Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata (86) was taken to Breach Candy Hospital in the early hours of Monday. Ratan Tata has reached there to get his routine check up. Putting an end to any kind of rumours, Ratan Tata wrote in his social media post – I am aware of the recent rumors spread about my health and want to assure everyone that these claims are baseless. I am currently undergoing medical check-up due to my age and related medical conditions. There is no reason to worry. I am in good mood and request that the public and media refrain from spreading misinformation.
Ratan Tata is the king of achievements
Ratan Tata was the chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. Tata has been awarded the title of Honorary Chairman of Tata Sons, Tata Industries, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Tata Chemicals. Tata is also associated with various organizations in India and abroad. He is the Chairman of Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, the two largest philanthropic trusts promoted by the private sector in India.
He is the Chairman of the Management Council of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. Tata started the Tata-Cornell Institute of Agriculture and Nutrition The Government of India honored Mr. Tata with its second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2008. He has been appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and the Rockefeller Foundation has honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Was surprised to buy Jaguar and Land Rover
In the year 2008, Ratan Tata bought British car brands Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor Company by Tata Motors. The $2.3 billion deal was then the largest acquisition ever made by an Indian automotive firm.
