Central Commerce Minister of State for Industry and Industry Jitin Prasad on Tuesday said that a semiconductor manufacturing plant will soon be set up in Uttar Pradesh and the state is fully prepared for this. Prasad said that with this, Uttar Pradesh will be included in the few places where there will be a semiconductor manufacturing unit. Addressing the 21st India-US Economic Summit organized by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), he said that India is a major investment destination in all sectors including semiconductors. Uttar Pradesh is one of the top states within the country and in the coming time it will be the ‘growth engine of India’. Prasad said, ‘We will also start work on a semiconductor manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh. I am confident that the state will be included in the few places where there will be a semiconductor manufacturing unit.’
Recently agreed with the US
It is noteworthy that India and the US have recently agreed to set up semiconductor plants in the country. In this context, this statement is important. Prasad said, “The Prime Minister has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US for chip manufacturing. It emphasizes that these technologies will be seen more and more in the daily lives of people in the future and it is necessary that we understand these technologies as soon as possible. “He said that semiconductors are important for India’s digital transformation goals. The minister also said that the government is focusing on taking the benefits of technology to remote and rural areas of the country.
India is moving ahead rapidly
He said that cooperation and partnership is important to accelerate semiconductor development, given this, the India-US partnership will have a far-reaching impact.” Referring to the country’s economic growth, Prasad said that the country’s fundamentals and economic growth rate remain strong. He said, ”India is moving very fast towards its goal.” On India-US bilateral relations, the minister said that the partnership is now at an equal level and both the countries are getting mutual benefits from it.
