CG GG Tronics India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, has received a contract for supply and installation of ‘Kavach’ equipment from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works in West Bengal. According to the statement issued by the company on Wednesday, GG Tronics India Private Limited has expertise in designing, manufacturing and installation of electronic security ’embedded signaling systems’ for railways. It also provides a system to protect the train from collision, called Automatic Train Protection System or ‘Kavach’.
The work has to be completed in 12 months
“The company has received the contract to supply ‘Kavach’ equipment from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works in West Bengal, the statement said. This contract is related to supply, installation, testing and commissioning of armor equipment under RDSO (Research Design and Standards Organization) specifications, which also includes maintenance for 11 years. The company said, the value of this contract is Rs 500. Is between Rs 1 crore to Rs 600 crore. It will be completed in 12 months.
Armor will be installed on the entire rail network in 6 years
On the other hand, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that to prevent two trains from colliding, Railways’ Kavach System 4.0 will cover the entire railway network in six years. Earlier, it used to take 14 days to install this system, which has now reduced to just 22 hours due to the training of engineers and technicians. The advanced armor system has been designed on Indian patterns. The Railway Minister said that an award has also been given for installing this system in 10 thousand locomotives. Apart from locos, initially this armor system will be installed on 15 thousand kilometer railway routes. In this, the section from Mumbai to Baroda, Delhi to Mathura-Palwal has been completed. It has been installed on more than one thousand kilometers of rail routes.
