Country About 47.8 lakh foreign tourists came to India during January-June this year. According to the data of the Tourism Ministry, the maximum number of tourists came from Bangladesh and America. This information has been received from the official data released on Friday on the occasion of World Tourism Day. However, the number of tourists visiting the country still lags behind the pre-Covid pandemic levels. 7,06,045 foreign tourists came in June this year, while 6,48,008 foreign tourists came in June 2023 and 7,26,446 foreign tourists came in June 2019. This number is nine percent more than 2023 and 9.8 percent less than 2019.
The figure is less than before Covid
The ministry said, “47,78,374 foreign tourists arrived during the first half (January-June) of this year, compared to 43,80,239 in the same period last year and 52,96,025 in the same period in 2019 before the Covid pandemic.” . This year’s figure is 9.1 percent more than that of 2023 and 9.8 percent less than that of 2019.”
Most tourists came from Bangladesh
According to the data, the highest number of foreign tourists in India in the first half of 2024 came from Bangladesh at 21.55 percent. After this, 17.56 percent tourists came from America, 9.82 percent from Britain, 4.5 percent from Canada and 4.32 percent from Australia.
