In the recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Amitabh Bachchan talked about his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan. He often talks about his parents and shares stories related to them and their lessons with everyone. But, this time Big B talked about that aspect of father Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s life about which very few people know. This time Amitabh Bachchan narrated the story related to his father’s first wife and also told how and when his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan met his mother i.e. Teji Bachchan.
Harivansh Rai Bachchan was in critical condition after the death of his first wife.
While sharing the story related to his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan and his first wife, Amitabh Bachchan told that his father’s first wife had passed away. Big B said- ‘My father’s first wife had passed away. After the death of his wife, he was in a very serious condition. He started feeling sad. There is a glimpse of sorrow and pain in all the poems he wrote after the death of his first wife. After a few years, he started going to Kavi Sammelans to earn money.
Harivansh Rai Bachchan had gone to Bareilly friend’s house
Amitabh further says- ‘A friend of his lived in Bareilly, he called Babuji to meet him. Babuji went to meet him. During dinner, Babuji’s friend requested him to recite a poem. But, before my father could start reciting the poem, his friend asked his wife to call my mother (Teji Bachchan). It was there that Babuji had his first meeting with our mother. After mother’s arrival, Babuji started reciting the poem ‘What should I do with my condolences’ and mother started crying after listening to this poem. Dad’s friend left mom and dad alone in the room and went out himself.
Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan got married in 1941.
‘After some time, father’s friend came with a rosary and asked him to make her wear it. Just that day, father had decided that now he would spend his entire life with our mother. Harivansh Rai Bachchan married Teji Bachchan in 1941. From this marriage, both of them had two children, who were named Amitabh and Ajitabh Bachchan.
