Former cricketer and actor Salil Ankola’s mother passed away on Friday. His body was found under suspicious circumstances in his flat in Pune. Some fatal injury marks have been found on the neck of the former actor’s mother, due to which it is suspected that she was murdered. At present, a team of Pune Police has reached Salil’s house and investigation into the case has started. Salil also shared a photo of his mother on his Instagram profile, confirming her death.

Salil Ankola shared a post giving information about his mother’s demise, with the caption – ‘Goodbye mother’. According to the information received, the name of the mother of 77 year old deceased Salil is Mala Ashok Ankola. She lived in Prabhat Road Complex located in Deccan Gymkhana area of Pune.

When the door of her room remained closed for a long time, the people working in her house entered inside and saw Mala lying on the bed soaked in blood. His throat was slit with a sharp weapon. Later his family members also reached the spot and immediately admitted him to a private hospital for treatment, but before that the doctor informed the family about his death. At present the police is investigating whether this is a case of murder or suicide.
Cricket career of Salil Ankola
Salil Ankola started his cricket career with Maharashtra and made his Test debut on 15 November 1989 in a historic match against Pakistan, which also featured Sachin Tendulkar for the first time. Salil took a wicket in both innings, showcasing his skills at the international level. Later that year, he turned to ODI internationals, even representing India at the 1996 World Cup. Unfortunately, a tumor in his left calf forced him to retire from cricket in 1997 at the age of 29, cutting his illustrious career short.

Salil Ankola was always fond of acting and after leaving cricket, he entered the world of Bollywood. He made his acting debut in 2000 by playing the role of Sub Inspector Avinash in ‘Kurukshetra’ opposite Sanjay Dutt. After this, Salil worked in films like ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’, ‘Rivayat’, ‘Ekta’ and ‘The Power’.
