Producer-director Yash Chopra once wanted to become an engineer, for which he was going to go to London. But, his fate had something else in store. When Yash Chopra came to Mumbai with his dreams, he became the assistant of his brother BR Chopra and started directing films. His talent was recognized by veteran actress Vejayanti Mala and she asked him to focus on directing films, after which he decided to leave his brother and make his own films. In 1959, Yash Chopra debuted as a director with ‘Dhool Ka Phool’.
